We Are Pilots by Shiny Toy Guns free essay sample

Chad Petree is the co-producer, male lead vocalist, and songwriter of indie electronic band Shiny Toy Guns. He grew up in small town Shawnee, Oklahoma, where he and his best friend Jeremy Dawson developed a passion for music. What I also adore about Chad is the recognition of what his fans want from him. As a kid, no major band ever came to his town, or at least no band of his interest. Now, as a music icon, he makes sure to satisfy his fans by touring in places such as Fredericton, NB, Canada instead of LA or Japan, as other stars do. I have also heard that he is irresistibly hilarious. But the major reason I love Chad Petree is typically because of his music. He puts so much soul and truth in his music and lyrics that it never fails to make me cry, and I guess this leads me to why I want to be like him someday. When I listen to the words that Chad had taken the time and effort to perfect, or the chords he synchronizes impressively on his guitar, it makes me feel close to my heart. He strums the music from its nature, and sings the words out of my mouth with such candid confidence that it makes me wish that I was the one who wrote those lyrics, or that I was the one who composed the piece. It’s just ultimate genius, and it has Chad Petree written all over it. I wish it had me written all over it. I do often sneak sayings and quotes from Shiny Toy Guns into my own words, I’ll admit, but they just never seem to click the way they must with Chad. You may find this stupid or immature, but I’m actually really bothered by the fact that I didn’t start the trend to wear band T-shirts, but instead had to pick it up from Chad. I’ll find another clever way to start a trend like that†¦ maybe a haircut, or a piercing, but deep down I know that those have nothing to do with the same meaning of Chad’s T-shirts or tattoo. I’ve got a handful of friends who have met Chad Petree, and when they told me, I could do nothing but envy them for a while. But when I came to my senses and asked them to tell me about their journey, they let me in on a side of Chad that I didn’t know. He is a cool laidback kind of guy, he always has a good time, he’s really close to his brother, Stephen, and he’s not overcome by fame and fortune. Instead, he’s more of the regular guy type, and he is hilarious, as I mentioned. After hearing that, I put in my mind that he is similar to that one schoolteacher there is bound to be in every school, the one all the girls fancy and all the guys look up to. My hypothesis was confirmed when I saw a video of Chad walking on the street about an hour and a half before a gig at a local bar, and he ran into someone who said their a huge fan of his. They sat down and talked for a while, so the man had the courage to invite him over for a drink and a game of foo sball. Chad happily accepted and after having a good time, he walked to his show with his new friend 15 minutes before, introduced him to the band, and then went onstage to begin his performance. Who does that? What kind of rockstar goes to a fans house for foosball an hour before his concert, then walks with him to the gig? I couldn’t stop laughing throughout the whole video. My friends were right; he was funny. What else can a say? Who wouldn’t want to end up like this hilarious attractive rockstar whose words inspire life out of me? Who wouldn’t have wanted to start a trend like he did, or write music like he did? To me, Chad Petree is a legend, and I can dream of being just like him someday.

Experiential theory incorporates the complete being of the client in the present here-and-now focus. Johnson observed that it is the exception rather than the rule to delve into deep unconscious experience or repressed memories, as there is plenty of substantial information right in front of the therapist's eyes (Johnson, 2003). The substance of EFT is the client, including what and how the client experienced communication in the client's senses, body, and expressions (Perls, 1969). The verbal communication is secondary to the therapist: Words can lie, but expression does not. EFT and Humanistic Theory After the first movement of psychodynamic psychology and the second movement of behaviorism, the third movement of humanistic psychology (later, Humanistic Existential) emphasizes in the client a potential capability toward "self-directed growth" (Corey, 2001, p. 205). . The therapist's belief that the client has both strength and desire to fulfil potentialities positively affects the client's progress: "Individuals have within themselves vast resources for self-understanding and for altering their self concepts, basic attitudes, and self-directed behavior; these resources can be tapped if a definable climate of facilitative psychological attitudes can be provided" (Rogers, 2001, p. 115). Thus, EFT adopts a therapeutic act of honoring the client as a unique human being (Greenberg & Johnson, 2005; Johnson, 2003). This empathic interaction increases a client's congruence, a term Rogers used to describe the incorporation of self and experiences as they become more similar, unitary, and true. EFT and Existential Theory Existential theory concerns itself with core structures of the self, including meaning, being, crisis, anxiety, freedom, responsibility, guilt, and death. While Johnson summarized the "I-thou" relationship, an existential concept from Martin Buber (Greenberg & Johnson, 2005; Johnson, 2003), she presented presumptuously existential concepts within the EFT theoretical framework. The 9th week, which was the first week of intervention failed miserably as that week alone had a large consumption; 1450 ml of alcoholic beverages, 1000ml of ice cream, 1.10 kg of fried chicken, 5 eggs and 4.48 kg of rice put together sums up a large intake of calorie, this high intake was associated to socializing with friends. The following weeks of intervention was more successful as both alcohol and ice cream consumption fell to 500ml each in the 2nd week to nil in the next two weeks for both. Alcohol has a high calorie content of 7 calories per gram and so reduction in alcoholic beverages can have good effect on the ecological footprint. This intervention any way had an effect on the overall alcohol consumption; 2250 ml in baseline tracking (4 weeks) compared to only 1825 ml on application of reduction strategy (4 weeks). At the same time ice-cream consumption was same for both the base line and intervention period. In the meat section the four week reduction strategy helped to reduce consumption of beef from 2.75 kg of initial four weeks (baseline) to 0.80kg and at the same time consumption of pork was reduced from 0.20 to 0.10 kg .Beef provides an enormous amount of calories on an average 250Kcal per 100gram. Hip Hop and the African American Dream Essay

Spoken-word music arrived in America for the first time with slave ships from West Africa.   Ethnomusicologists have traced the roots of hip hop to the dance, the drum, and the song of West African griots or storytellers.   The pairing of word and music is recognized as a portrayal of the painful journey of slaves who survived the passage.   In early America, the slaves drew on the common elements of African music with their ring shouts, their field hollers, as well as their spirituals.   Thus, Samuel A. Floyd, the director of the Center for Black Music Research at Columbia College in Chicago attests: â€Å"Speech-song has been part of the black culture for a long, long time† (McBride).   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   In the summer of the year 1973, an African American teenager in one of the Bronx River Houses, stuck a speaker in his living room window, ran a wire to the turntable in another room, and set the housing project of three thousand folks alight with party music.   Thus, Bronx turned into a music magnet, and hip hop was given birth to.   This birth led to the creation of dance styles, and graffiti artists found a new job: to paint the word â€Å"I† loud and clear because hip hop is all about identity, that is, â€Å"I am the best† (McBride).   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   James McBride notes: â€Å"Not since the advent of swing jazz in the 1930s has an American music exploded across the world with such overwhelming force.†Ã‚   As a matter of fact, hip hop is nowadays enjoyed by people from around the world, and by all races.   Still, the role of this music among the African Americans – the race through out of which emerge the best hip hop musicians – is crystal clear.   For African Americans, the music represents the good old dream to hit upon a pot of gold to millions of dollars.   Agonizing over how their parents slave many hours a day, young African Americans long to make it big in the hip hop business with fame and riches. All Proven Rapists, Pedophiles and Murderers Should...

Working Title: â€Å"Capital punishment for all proven rapists, pedophiles, and murderers should be made the order of the day.† In the eighteenth century, death penalty was used as the severe Punishment if a Person disobeyed the laws. Death penalty also known as Capital Punishment is the judicially ordered execution of a prisoner for a serious crime. The court, who administers the law enacted by parliament, will, after conviction of a criminal who has done serious offence, sentence him to be killed. It is believed by many, particularly those of religious persuasion that this type of punishment is inhumane and the practice should be abolished.
